Lenovo ThinkPad L580
Lenovo ThinkPad L580 Drivers – The L580 is a ThinkPad, a matte black slab with diagonal logos in the corners of the lid and the wrist rest, as well as substantial rather than elegant frames around the screen. The webcam above the panel does not offer facial recognition, although Windows Hello is supported by a fingerprint reader located below the arrows on the keyboard cursor. The camera saves slightly dark but detailed and grain-free images.
At 4.46 pounds, the L580 is reasonably lightweight for the replacement of a desktop computer-not the lightest in the world: with the Dell MacBook Pro 15 inches and 15 inches to 4 pounds and the LG gram 15 to 2.41 pounds, Acer Aspire E 15 of 5.27 pounds. It is slightly larger than its competitors at 0.9 on 14.8 on 10 inches (HWD). Compare the Dell to 0.66 x 14.1 x 9.3 inches or the Apple to 0.61 x 13.8 x 9.5 inches.
Lenovo ThinkPad L580 Drivers – The port selection is good, although there is no VGA port for the older projectors or Thunderbolt 3 port for the latest docking stations and storage bays. On the left side of the system are two USB-C ports (the rearmost for use with the supplied charger), a 3.0 USB port, an HDMI video output, a micro SD card connector and an Ethernet port. An audio jack, a second 3.0 USB port and a security lock slot are located on the right. Bluetooth and 2×2 802.11 ac Wi-Fi manage wireless communications.
The backlit keypad, with a numeric keypad on the right, follows the layout of the standard ThinkPad, with the home and end keys on the top row and the PgUp and PgDn keys at the bottom right with the cursor arrows. A Fn lock allows you to choose whether the keys in the upper row are running F1, F2, etc., or system functions such as volume and brightness control, while the Lenovo Vantage utility allows you to swap the FN and Ctrl keys In the lower left corner.
Lenovo ThinkPad L580 Drivers – The keyboard resembles not only a series of ThinkPad T’s, but also an excellent one, with deep displacements and a calm but lively response. I was very fond of using it, except for one bizarre thing: its uncommon habit of beeping during a quick keystroke or when my fingers pressed two keys at a time. It happened rarely, about a dozen times during my tests, but it’s not something I noticed when browsing through other laptops, and that got angry enough that I would reduce the volume of sound so that it would be less Annoying.
Fans of the cursor control can choose between the smooth but slightly undersized touchpad and the Nubbin TrackPoint at the intersection of the G, H and B keys. Both work perfectly, the lower corners of the touchpad requiring enough pressure to be able to make mouse clicks.
The L580 can easily fill a medium size room when the volume is increased, but its lower loudspeakers are disappointing: all instruments and all voices are present and taken into account, but the general sound is hollow and moderate. Replacing the automatic Dolby settings to manually select music, movies, games or other modes makes a trivial difference.
Lenovo ThinkPad L580 Drivers – The ThinkPad Full HD screen is clear and crisp, with bright colors and good contrast. The angles of vision are wide enough to allow a small audience to gather, but the brightness is only average: a few clicks beyond the upper backlight setting would have been welcome.
Considering that this was the cheapest laptop (and the only Core i5) of the test set, the ThinkPad L580 was perfectly successful in our performance criteria-not winning any events, but displaying competitive results. In the Office productivity Test PCMark 8, for example, the system got over 300 points on the 3 000 considered excellent, and finished in the middle of the pack during the Cinebench editing exercise and Handbrake video editing.
The battery life was more than acceptable, after 10 hours and 48 minutes, during our video degradation test, even if the 15 hours of the MacBook Pro and the 16 hours of Gram 15 were lagging behind. The L580 will allow you to spend a day of work with enough time for a Netflix movie.
