Lenovo ThinkPad A485 Driver – When at the end of last fall, Lenovo introduced to the market a whole new subset of their business laptops ThinkPad with AMD processors, was somewhat surprising. After all, the first models of the new series ThinkPad A, the A275 ThinkPad and ThinkPad A475, were based on “Bristol-Ridge processors” AMD. ” These were already aged at that point and ready to be replaced by mobile Ryzen processors “Raven-Ridge”. ” However, it was already clear that the first two models were only holders of positions to establish the ThinkPad A series and save the time until the Ryzen.
Now, almost a year later, the second generation of the series ThinkPad to Lenovo is on the market, and finally contains the new processors Ryzen. The design continues based on current models of the ThinkPad X and ThinkPad t series For the smallest ThinkPad A285, Intel equivalent would be the Lenovo ThinkPad X 280, while our current test, the ThinkPad A485, unit is based on the design of the T480 ThinkPad from Lenovo. Therefore, we can skip the description of the case, the connections and input devices, since you can find this information in the detailed review of the Lenovo ThinkPad T480.
Lenovo ThinkPad A485 Driver – In addition to the ThinkPad T480 as the most obvious reference comparison, the main competitor of the A485 ThinkPad from Lenovo is mainly HP EliteBook 745 G5. While the Dell Latitude 5495 would also be a good device for comparison, since we have not been able to test this model, we are comparing the A485 ThinkPad with the Dell Latitude 5490 with internal Intel.
Our test unit is currently the single best-selling model in the German market. This configuration with the 20MU000CGE model number contains the AMD Ryzen 5 2500U, 8 GB of RAM, a 256 GB SSD, as well as an IPS screen with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution.
The number of display options for the AD ThinkPad from Lenovo A485 is lower than with the Intel ThinkPad T480 model. Instead of four, there are only three different screens. Screen QHD IPS (2560 x 1440), the best screen in the T480, is not offered for the A485. Instead, you can choose between a HD TN panel (1366 x 768), which definitely should be avoided, a touch screen Full HD IPS (1920 x 1080), and a screen Full HD IPS without touching. All screens offered are matte.
Our test unit has Full HD IPS panel without touching. According to Lenovo, should achieve a brightness of 250 cd / m², but according to our measurements exceeded this value with an average of 271 cd / m². This makes this screen is much brighter than the screen LCD Full HD IPS very dark in the Dell Latitude 5490. On the other hand, the HP EliteBook 745 G5 clearly outperforms all competitors, offering a brightness of screen almost 400 cd / m². So in this sense, the A485 is located between competitors, but it is regrettable that Lenovo does not offer the brightest QHD display.
Lenovo ThinkPad A485 Driver – The integrated panel with the model number NV140FHM-N46 of BOE manufacturer just shows backlight bleeding, and 85% the distribution of brightness is good enough. Unfortunately, we noticed some PWM, but at 1000 Hz frequency is high enough to not give problems to the majority of users.
1058: 1, the contrast lies within an adequately good range. Competitors are equally good, and only the HP EliteBook 745 G5 is clearly better with more than 1500: 1. In its original configuration, the A485 ThinkPad screen fighting some deviations in colour, although this can be largely corrected by calibration. As always, we offer the appropriate color profile for this.
Lenovo ThinkPad A485 Driver – The coverage of the color space is probably the area where the lack of choice QHD hurts more, since the LCD built-in here only can cover 59% of the sRGB color space. This is not enough for any type of image processing, especially because the missing percentage values also give rise to some pale colors in general. In this area, the EliteBook 745 G5 Full HD screen again is significantly better. However, the QHD display that Lenovo has incorporated into the T480 and T480 and has been maintained since the A485 is even better than that.
On the German market, currently only Lenovo sells a unique model of the A485 ThinkPad, which also is that we are testing. It is equipped with the AMD Ryzen 5 Pro 2500U, GPU integrated AMD Radeon RX Vega 8, a memory module DDR4 RAM of 8 GB (one of the two occupied slots, 32 GB max), as well as Full HD IPS screen and a 256 – GB SSD. If you want to buy the A485 with different components, you must obtain it in the shop of Lenovo.
