Overview

Lenovo IdeaCentre 520S-23IKU Drivers – The IdeaCentre 520S-23IKU is surprisingly slim for an all-in-one PC. The screen is surrounded by extremely thin frames and the all-in-one chassis is slim and compact. The plastic structure of the frame is silver-coloured and accented with metal trims. Even without the entirely metal construction we’ve seen with high-end offerings like the Apple iMac 27-inch, the design remains sophisticated.

The boomerang-shaped foot of the system is quite elegant and offers a correct adjustment range, allowing you to rotate the angle of the display between minus 5 degrees and 35 degrees.

Unlike all-in-one 27-inch designs that dominate the desktop, the IdeaCentre 520S-23IKU is small enough to settle on most desktops, while freeing up the space you could have devoted to a PC Tower. The entire unit measures 20.6 x 12.8 x 1.6 inches and weighs only 9.7 pounds. This is much smaller than the Apple iMac 27-inch (20.3 x 25.6 x 8 inch) or the ASUS Zen AiO Pro Z240IE (23 x 17.1 x 7.5 inch, 16 lbs).

Although 4K displays appear on most of the most expensive all-in-one systems on the market, the Lenovo IdeaCentre 520S-23IKU keeps the price at a reasonable price with a more modest full HD display. When I watched the trailer of the foreigner, Jackie Chan’s quick hands seemed smooth; green grass and Brown woodwork seemed rich; and every moustache of Pierce Brosnan’s beard stood out.

The 23-inch screen is more than enough to navigate the Web and work in most programs, and touch support lets you touch and swipe on the screen. Although it is a usable screen, its most impressive appearance is its borderless design, which surrounds the Panel of thin 0.28-inch glasses.

IdeaCentre recorded an average of 263 nits in our brightness tests, which is about the average for an all-in-one. It’s brighter than the Lenovo Yoga home 900 (231 nits) and ASUS Zen AiO Pro (247 nits), but it’s not as bright as the Apple iMac (463 nits) and similar premium systems.

The screen also manages very well the colors, with precision precision Delta-E of 0.08. (Closer to 0, that’s better.) It’s an equal footing with the 27-inch Apple iMac (0.06) and the ASUS Zen AiO Pro Z240IE (0.28) and significantly better than the Lenovo Yoga home 900 (1.92).

The IdeaCentre 520S-23IKU looks good thanks to its ability to reproduce 112% of the sRGB range. Any display greater than 100% is considered a good screen, but many all-in-one systems, such as ASUS Zen AiO Pro (146%) and Apple iMac 27-inch (167%), offer even better color support. That said, IdeaCentre is quite in line with the previous model, the Lenovo IdeaCentre 510 (110%), as well as the Lenovo Yoga home 900 (122%).

Lenovo IdeaCentre 520S-23IKU Drivers – The IdeaCentre 520S-23IKU integrated Soundbar extends to the bottom of the all-in-one chassis and includes two 3-watt loudspeakers. Although they generate enough sound to fill a small room, the audio is not particularly impressive. In “If you met her” from Palehound, the lyrics are quite clear, but the bass is low and the guitars lack depth.

Lenovo allows you to fine tune the system audio with the Dolby audio app, which offers multiple audio presets, a customizable 20-band equalizer, and volume upgrade mode.

The IdeaCentre 520S-23IKU AIO comes with a wireless keyboard and mouse. The complete keyboard offers a striking experience worthy of the name, with a stroke of 1.6 mm, but the scaled keys are a bit stiff. In addition to the usual QWERTY keys, the keypad provides a full numeric keypad and buttons for volume control. The mouse is good but not excellent, with a slightly uncomfortable shape and a capacitive band between the right and left mouse buttons instead of a traditional scroll wheel.

Both input devices work with AAA batteries and connect with a 2.4 GHz shared USB dongle.

The IdeaCentre 520S-23IKU is equipped with four 3.0 USB ports, one HDMI port and one Gigabit Ethernet socket. Although it is not the most exciting collection of ports we have seen, it is not bad either. What is bad, however, is the location of these ports. The majority of the connectors are located at the back of the system, centered behind the bracket.

The ports on the back are pretty unpractical, but the placement behind the base prevents you from plugging in anything. Lenovo is trying to improve the situation by installing a 3.0 USB port on each side of the webcam, but if you use these ports, you lose the privacy aspects of the webcam design.

Lenovo IdeaCentre 520S-23IKU Drivers – It took 3 minutes and 39 seconds to IdeaCentre 520S-23IKU to associate 20 000 names with their addresses in our spreadsheet macro test, far ahead of the Lenovo Yoga home 900 (5:17) and tied with the ASUS Zen AiO Pro Z240IE (3:40).

The 1TB hard drive, 5 400 rpm of the desktop may not correspond to the speed of SSD drives, but it has completed our file transfer test within 3:30 passable, i.e. 24.23 Mbps. This is actually slower than what we saw with the IdeaCentre 510 last year, which displayed 37.8 Mbps thanks to a hybrid drive with solid-state memory for faster performance.

With Intel HD graphics 620 driving visuals, the IdeaCentre 520S-23IKU is designed for everyday use rather than for gaming and multimedia. In 3DMark ice storm unlimited, the score was 34 271. In the low-end dirt 3 game, the average was 21 frames per second, without reaching the 30 FPS needed for playability. If you want to play games on this desktop, you’ll be stuck playing candy crush.

The webcam design is identical to that of the IdeaCentre 510 last year, with an output module located just below the screen. This design has the advantage of allowing you to deactivate the camera when you are not using it; It also means that the webcam is not going to clutter the thin frames of the screen. Although we have not yet seen many other all-in-one use this technology, we expect some later this year, such as the ASUS Zen AiO ZN242 and the HP EliteOne 800.

With accurate colors and a just capture of details, the 1080p camera is decent for a built-in webcam, but it’s a low bar to erase. However, a bigger problem than image quality lies in the low angle that the camera under chassis requires you to adopt. This positioning means you can’t look at your screen without looking out of the way, and the camera’s focus naturally falls on your neck and chest, unless you reposition yourself for a webcam use.

The IdeaCentre 520S-23IKU comes with Windows 10 home and Lenovo preloads all-in-one with several of its own applications, such as Lenovo companion, a proprietary settings dashboard; and Lenovo family cloud for file sharing with other Lenovo devices you may have. Other applications include a 30-day trial of Microsoft Office, keeper password manager, Sling TV and free games such as candy crush soda saga and trolls vs Vikings.

The Lenovo IdeaCentre 520S-23IKU is a best buy exclusive at the price of $949. Available in a single configuration-the same version we tested and revised-the system comes with an Intel Core I7-7500U processor, 8gb DDR4 2133 MHz SDRAM, Intel HD graphics 620 and a 1Tb hard drive, 5 400 rpm. The all-in-one comes with an external DVD/CD burner that supports DVD + R/RW, DVD-R/RW and CD-R/RW formats.

The Lenovo IdeaCentre 520S-23IKU is an elegant and uncluttering all-in-one that delivers decent overall performance and some amazingly clever design touches. Our enthusiasm is tempered by the awkward placement of ports and mediocre loudspeakers, and the ephemeral webcam has image and port problems that go hand-in-hand with the benefits that preserve confidentiality. This is far from a perfect machine, but overall, the Lenovo IdeaCentre 520S-23IKU is a good value for money in a consumer PC.

Although more expensive systems offer a premium touch such as 4K resolution, better sound quality or better port selection, these systems also cost a lot more. Even the ASUS Zen AiO Pro Z240IE at moderate prices sells for nearly 1 000 dollars more, and high-end engines such as the Apple iMac 27-inch with retina 5K display are even more expensive; This Apple system starts at 1 799 USD and can quickly approach the 3 000 USD bar as you add new features. If you simply want an all-in-one computer for everyday use, the Lenovo IdeaCentre 520S-23IKU offers good performance with an extra dose of style.
